Meet the Two Taylors
One has the vision. One has the system. Together, they've built the model that transforms builders and communities alike.
Taylor Conroy — The Visionary
Founder of Change Heroes, which sent 1,000+ people on transformational service trips over 6 years. Creator of LEADR — a speaking consultancy with a mission to build 10,000 homes by 2035. His core insight: "The fundraising challenge transforms participants as much as the communities they serve."
Taylor McArthur — The Operator
Co-founder of LEADR and former Director of Fundraising for the Arizona Chamber of Commerce, 2014 Arizona State Senate candidate, and 5th-grade teacher. He was TLA's first builder — he and his wife Jenn raised $6,000 themselves to prove the model. Now he personally coaches every builder through their fundraise.
"One Taylor has the vision. One Taylor has the system. Together, they've built the model."
Meet TECHO: Our Building Partner
Taylor Love Adventures is proud to partner with TECHO, a globally recognized youth-led nonprofit. TECHO works hand-in-hand with communities in informal settlements across Latin America and the Caribbean, driven by the belief that poverty is an urgent injustice requiring immediate action.
Their mission extends beyond simply constructing emergency housing. By fostering strong local bonds and empowering residents, TECHO enables communities to become powerful agents of their own change. TECHO U.S. further amplifies this mission, connecting individuals, universities, companies, and donors to deeply immersive volunteer experiences.
These on-the-ground engagements are designed to deliver real, lasting impact, not just in housing, but in strengthening the social fabric of communities and transforming lives.

Builder Voices
What Builders Are Saying
These aren't polished testimonials. They're real people describing what happens when you build something that matters — with people who matter.
Adrien P. — Entrepreneur, Switzerland
“Come with an open heart and a willingness to serve. You’ll receive far more than you expect.”
Marcus T. — Sales Leader, Austin TX
"Raising $3,000+ was terrifying. Then I did it in 11 days. Then I swung a hammer in Oaxaca next to a father who cried when we finished the roof. Nothing has compared to that week."
Gina J. — Life Coach, St. Petersburg, FL
“This wasn’t just about building a house. It was about community, humility, and remembering how much we all have. I left with a renewed sense of purpose.”

FAQ
Common Questions Before You Apply
Here are answers to the most common questions from prospective builders. If you don't see what you're looking for, feel free to reach out to us directly!
So what am I actually paying for?
The only requirement is raising a minimum $3,300 for TECHO, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 30 days or less. Every dollar you raise goes directly to building homes for families in Oaxaca. None of it goes to TLA, your hotel, or your flight.
When you hit your $3,300 goal within 30 days, the trip experience is covered for you: your hotel room, the Friday welcome feast, and meals on both build days. That support is provided separately — because we want you focused on the mission, not the logistics.
*Builders are responsible for the cost of their flight to and from Oaxaca.
What if I've never fundraised before?
That's exactly who this is built for. Taylor McArthur leads a team of TLA alumni coaches who guide every builder through the process — weekly calls, proven templates, and accountability check-ins. Your coach raised $3,300 themselves before ever asking anyone else to. They know what works because they've done it. Every committed builder who has gone through this process has hit their goal. Every one.
Where does my $3,300 actually go?
Directly to TECHO — an internationally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to overcoming poverty in Latin America. TECHO partners with local communities to deliver housing and long-term community development. Your funds cover construction materials, local labor, logistics, and on-site coordination. No funds raised are paid to volunteers. You can share the official donation letter with any donor who requests confirmation.
What if I can't raise $3,300 — can I just pay it myself?
Yes. If you'd prefer to donate $3,300 directly rather than fundraise, that option is available. But we'd encourage you to try the fundraising first — most builders are surprised by how much their network shows up, and the process itself is part of the transformation.
Can I raise more than $3,300? What happens if I Do?
Yes — and we hope you do. The $3,300 covers half a home. If you want to fund a whole home solo, raise $6,600 (the Builder tier). If you want to fund a home and help cover TECHO's volunteer travel costs, raise $9,900 (the Cornerstone tier). Whatever you raise above $3,300 stays in TECHO's pool and funds more homes in Oaxaca. Every dollar goes to TECHO — every dollar builds.

What is the application call, and do I have to do it?
Yes — it's required, and it's worth it. After you submit your written application, you'll book a one-hour Zoom call with Taylor McArthur. He'll have reviewed your application, get to know you and your story, and if it's a great fit — you'll launch your fundraising campaign together on that call. It's not an interview. It's a conversation and a launchpad.
Powered by LEADR
Taylor Love Adventures is proudly supported by LEADR — a public speaking and coaching consultancy that helps mission-driven entrepreneurs and thought leaders land speaking gigs and spread their message to millions. LEADR's bold mission: build 10,000 homes by 2035.
Through this partnership, participant lodging is fully covered by LEADR — which means 100% of every dollar raised through your campaign goes directly to TECHO for housing construction. (Builders cover their own flight to and from Oaxaca.)
"Every dollar you raise builds a home. LEADR handles the rest."
